Since March 23rd Vision Health Specialties has been open only to see those of you who have had emergent eye conditions. We are thrilled to announce that starting on May 1st as part of Governor Abbott’s Open Texas policy, we will be open for both eye emergencies and routine eye and vision care.

We have always worked to ensure our office is a clean environment where our patients are safe from catching an infection, but since March 23 we have revisited every part of our office to make sure we are doing everything possible to make sure our patients are in a healthy environment. The threat of novel coronavirus is still with us and will be for a while. As a response to this new threat, we have instituted the following new policies.

All patients will be required to fill our a COVID-19 risk questionnaire before they are allowed to enter the office; this will be available on our website and at our front door.

It has been a long 6 weeks for all of us. We look forward to seeing you.

Contact Lenses

visionhealth-contactsWe offer a wide selection of contact lenses including disposable soft contact, bifocal/multifocal, toric, and colored lenses. Whether you wear daily, weekly or monthly disposables, or conventional (vial) lenses, check out our selection of lenses that fit your needs.

A good contact lens fit starts with a thorough eye exam to ensure the most up-to-date prescription and rule out any pre-existing conditions that could interfere with contact lens wear.

We will determine the best fitting lens based on your lifestyle needs, the shape and health of your eye. In most cases, you'll have the opportunity to try lenses on the same day as your exam. You can even go home with a few samples before making a final decision.

We follow up the initial fitting and then make any necessary changes in fit or materials to get you the best possible fit. We teach all our patients proper contact lens care and also possible consequences if proper care is not taken. Then we continue with long-term follow-up to monitor the condition of the lenses and to ensure that proper hygiene is being maintained.

If you have allergies, then you know allergies can be particularly annoying to contact lens wearers. In the past, many people had to quit wearing their lenses during the allergy season. However, new lens materials and allergy medications have made it possible for these people to eliminate the burning itchy eyes associated with allergies. Prescription medications such as Patanol and Alocril are amazingly effective and safe even in children as young as three. Let us know when you come in for your appointment if you have special allergy needs and we will be happy to help you.
